Jammu:Jammu and Kashmir Police is likely to undergo a major reshuffle after August 15, with changes expected across ranks ranging from SSP to ADG. Sources said a new ADG Armed is likely to be posted as part of the rejig.
The IG Kashmir is expected to proceed on central deputation as IG, CRPF, paving the way for a change in the Kashmir Zone leadership. Two IPS officers from the 2007 and 2008 batches are understood to be in contention for the IG Kashmir post.
A final decision on the posting of IG Jammu is yet to be taken. At the DIG level, DIG Central Kashmir and DIG South Kashmir are also likely to be transferred.
SSP Rajouri and SSP Pulwama are expected to proceed on central deputation, while several district police chiefs are also likely to be changed. Sources said around two to three districts in Kashmir and a similar number in the Jammu region could see new SSPs.
