Srinagar:
Authorities snapped the mobile Internet service in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday following an encounter between terrorists and the security forces.

An official said the Internet service was suspended as a "precautionary measure".

The encounter broke out between the terrorists and the security forces in Hapatnar area of Charar-e-Sharif earlier on Monday.

Quoting reports, news agency GNS reported that a joint team of army and the state police cordoned off the suspected spot following "credible input" about presence of some terrorists in the area.

As the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering an encounter.

"Brief exchange of fire at Hapat Naalah area of Zinpanchal in District Budgam. Area under cordon. Details shall follow," said the police.

Quoting sources, GNS reported that two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
