Jammu :
The National Secular Forum (NSF) has appreciated the J&K UT Administration for issuing clarification on issuance of Domicile Certificate in favour of the children of PRC holders which will help easing off the process for many people who are seeking the certificate.

Addressing a press conference, Dr Vikas Sharma, NSF state president said, “The authorities were rejecting the applications of several applicants citing ground that the children of persons possessing Permanent Resident Certificates need to attach PRC of both the parents (Mother and Father) in order to obtain their Domicile Certificates. Owing to this, several of the applicants were suffering and the NSF raised voice against this injustice.”

“We launched a campaign against this injustice at all levels and had urged the Lieutenant Governor Sh. Manoj Singh and Union MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh to clear the confusion over the matter for the sake of people who are running from pillar to post to get Domicile Certificates. And our struggle bore fruits as the J&K UT Administration finally issued clarification on the issue and brought relief for hundreds of such applicants.,” he added.

Dr Sharma lauded the efforts of Lieutenant Governor for his prompt response on the issue and also complemented the NSF cadre for accomplishing the task. Pertinently, the GAD has clarified that even if one of the parents (either mother or father) is in possession of a Permanent Resident Certificate, the children would be entitled to the grant of Domicile Certificate and absence of PRC of the father cannot disqualify the ward to obtain a Domicile Certificate.

Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Dr Sukhdev Singh Working President NSF, Papinder Singh Sr.Vice-President, Pushpinder Singh Vice-President,Mashkoor Alhi Secretary and Rahul Sharma District President.
