Jammu:
We are of opinion that instead of letting books grow moldy behind an iron grating, it is better to let them wear out by being read. The alma mater of life is  books, a good library wherein people  could spend the rest of their life reading, just satisfying their curiosity. In this facet, the school takes behemothic pride in pioneering LIBRARY ON WHEELS –first of its kind in entire Jammu and Kashmir, the launch of which commenced in the benign presence of Mohd. Rafi (Chief Guest) Director Libraries & Research J&K, Ms. Sabhyita Rani (Guest of honour) Chief Librarian SRS library, Ms. Rohini Aima (Principal cum Vice-Chairperson), coordinators and faculty.
This flamboyant Library on Wheels (van) was flagged off and halted at Arnia to promulgate the objective to reach out to every person who wants to read a book. Now a days, people take the book and use it to adorn a corner of their home. In times of social media and digital era “Library on wheels” is going to be a passion for readers to recreate the magic of era when libraries were popular destinations to get fruitfully engaged. Initially the library on wheels will be stationed at selected rural area destinations like Arnia, RS Pura and list will be put up on website.
So while there is no membership fee, the school still prefers to ear on the side of caution. There is a refundable deposit that is to be paid by the users against the cost of the book. Payment can be  done online or in cash. It is fully refundable once the book is returned. It is high time that people discovered the joy of reading. “More & more people are working from home and many are spending time on social media and other platforms. We want people to experience what it means to browse through books and read it. The library facility is open for students from any private/Govt. schools or general community members of the area.
Keeping COVID-19 guidelines in mind the school ensures that sanitizers are handy and nooks are neatly laid out. We will allow people bring their own sanitizer bottles and use it before touching the books. Also we will ensure our masks are always on.
This initiative was conceived by Ms. Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice-Chairperson of the school who enunciated that the primary objective is to bring this Whatsapp and social media generation back to books. We want to rekindle the reading habit and culture among them. It will make them better educated and more civilized citizens.
