ANANTNAG:Today, Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, the first medical college in South Kashmir, proudly commemorated a significant milestone in its journey towards excellence in medical education. The institution hosted a heartfelt ceremony to honor the completion of its inaugural MBBS batch, which commenced its journey in 2019.
The event, graced by esteemed dignitaries, showcased the collective dedication and perseverance of GMC Anantnag's faculty, staff, and students. Dr. Syed Abid Rashid, the Administrative Secretary of Health, Medical & Education Department (HME), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside past Principals of GMC Anantnag, including Dr. (Prof) Showket Jeelani and Dr. (Prof) Syed Tariq Qureshi as "Guests of Honour". Principal GMC Srinagar, Dr (Prof) Iffat Hassan and Prinicipal GMC Baramulla, Dr (Prof) Ruby Reshi attended the occasion as special Guests.

During the event, Sheeral Salim was awarded the title of "Student of the Year," while Mir Wajhat, Kaiser Hilal, Mohd Umair, Romana Mir, and Rakhshanda Khursheed were recognized for their achievements as "All Rounder," "Best Singer," "Favorite Senior," "The Inspiration," and "Helping Hand," respectively. Additionally, Natiq Farooq and Harris Mehraj were honored with the "Athlete of the Year" awards.
