CUJ organises two day International Conference on “Reflections on New Tourism and New Normal in the Post COVID-19 World”

Jammu:
 The two day International Conference on “Reflections on New Tourism and New Normal in the Post COVID-19 World” organized by Department of Tourism and Travel Management School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) under the patronage of the Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu .This event is being organized in an online media platform (Google meets) from 26th to 27th May 2022. On the first day the renowned academicians Prof. Manjula Chaudhary and Prof. S. C. Bagri were the Guests of Honour in the event. They emphasized in their address on Post Covid-19 strategies for tourism and elaborated on the various essentials which still need to be taken care of. The department also launched e-proceedings of the conference compiling abstracts of around seventy research papers received from participants. The inauguration was followed by a plenary session with three keynote speakers namely Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas, University of Jammu, India, Dr. EngZdzislaw,Jan Wyzykowski University, Poland and Dr. Nikolaos Pappas,Sunderland University, UK.
On the first day the plenary session was followed by a technical session with three tracks with themes namely New Normal, Responsible Behaviour and New Business Models; COVID 19 Impact and Survival Strategies in Tourism Industry; and Tourism innovation and Resilience during uncertainity. Thirty six participants delivered their papers in their respective tracks. The sessions were chaired by Dr. Anil Gupta and Dr. Bhupesh Kumar and Co-chaired by Dr. Ranbir Singh, Dr. Sonia Sharma and Dr. R Manjushree. The sessions were assisted by the research scholars of the department.
On the second day of the event the renowned academicians Prof. Nimit Ranjan Chowdary, Prof.Sampada Kumar Swain, Prof. Vinay Chouhan, Prof. Flavia Stara, and Prof. Chander Mohan  Parsheera were the Guest of Honour in the event. The presenters emphasized on the recovery methods for reviving tourism following the Post-Covid- 19 era. The plenary session was followed by a technical session with three tracks with themes namely Trends and Issues of New Tourism; Destination Recovery Strategies; and Tourism Practices and Perspectives. Twenty seven participants delivered their papers in their respective tracks. The sessions were chaired by Dr. Jitendra Mohan Mishra, Dr. Sandeep Walia, and Dr. Saurabh  Dixit. Also the session was Co-chaired by Dr. Ramjit, Dr. Amit Katoch and Dr. Umesh Chowdhary. 

Technical session is followed by the Valedictory session, started with formal welcome by Dr. Bharti Gupta, Conference General Chair and followed by addresses of Dr. Amit Gangotia, Head of the Department. Along, Mrs. Prachi Mahajan, research scholar of tourism and travel management have presented a report on the outcomes of theme tracks presented on day one and day two.
 The Guest of Honour was AVSM Major General (Retd.) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal in Valedictory session and he emphasized on the importance of identifying and promoting tourism potential in Jammu for generating socioeconomic advantages for the J&K state. Following the address, Mr. Manjeet Singh proposed a vote of thanks for all the participants.
The other organising committee members of conference include Dr Ranjeet Raman, Mr Rahul Thakur, Dr Rabinder Singh and Dr Swati Samnotra.
