Jammu:
The Two–Day National Workshop on Advances in Interdisciplinary Sciences which was inaugurated by Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu concluded today in the Department of Electronics,  which was organized in collaboration with IEEE EDS Delhi Chapter and IETE Jammu centre. 
 
In the morning session Prof. Manoj Dhar from the Department of Biotechnology, University of Jammu delivered a highly informative lecture entitled "Bioinformatics: An interdisciplinary approach to solve biological problems". His talk was well received and greatly appreciated by the participants followed by a talk by Prof. Shah Jahan Wani from S. P. College, Srinagar, who spoke about Interdisciplinary Applications of Cellular Automata.
 
In the 2nd session, Prof. Vijay K. Arora from Wilkes University, USA & IEEE-EDS Distinguished Lecturer gave a very eminent  talk on the topic " Publish and Flourish: Art, Craft, and Sportsmanship for Publishing in High-Impact Journals" which was highly appreciated by the participants.
 
Next lecture was delivered by Prof. K. K. Bamzai, from the  Department of Physics, University of Jammu on " Multiferroic - a new multi-component material" which was well received by the audience.  In this workshop more than hundred papers were presented as oral and posters by the faculty/scientists/research scholars of the various institutions in and around J&K and outside in different disciplines.
 
Prof.  Haq Nawaz, . Prof. Namarta Sharma and  Dr. Shah Jahan Wani  acted as jury members in the Chemical  Sciences, Life Sciences & Electronics sections respectively whereas . Prof. K. K. Bamzai, Prof.  Vinod Sharma,  Dr. Romesh Kumar and Dr. Ravender Tickoo acted as jury members in the Physical  Sciences, Mathematical Sciences & Computer Science sections. The event was attended by more than 100 registered participants which include faculty members research scholars from the various departments of the university and nearby colleges and the students from within the Dept. of Electronics and Physics. 
 
Earlier, Professor Rakesh Vaid, Head, Department of Electronics and convener of this workshop welcomed all the invited speakers. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to all the participants and memento's to all the invited speakers and jury members.
 
The workshop was attended by Dr. Susheel Sharma, Co-convener, Dr. Rockey Gupta, organizing secretary, Prof. P V K S Baba, Prof. Aurn Bharti, Er. Anik Gupta, Dr. Ramni Gupta, Dr. Rani Devi, Dr. Rakesh Prasher, Dr. Devi Dass, research scholars and students of the department  along with participants from the various departments of the university and nearby colleges.
