Son of State Pushpinder from Rajouri gets Scholarship in Italy

Rajouri:This is a matter of pride for the Pir Panjal region specially for district Rajouri that a young boy from this remote himalayan region has been able to secure admisson in the doctorate degree programme in a prestigious university in Italy. The son of a retired teacher, Mr.Pushpinder Singh Jamwal, hails from a small village named dhanour, located close to the town of Rajouri. Pushpinder has done his Master's in Environmental Sciences apart from a PG Diploma in Environmental Economics.
Mr.Pushpinder started his early carrier as a wildlife biologist and an avid photographer.He has been working in the field of conservation science since last more than 5 years in geographically challenging region of Ladakh. He has worked with WWF-India for the conservation of different species of wildlife especially the snow leopard, kiang, black-necked crane and eurasian otters.He is now working with the IUCN (The International Union for Conservation of Nature) for the conservation of Otters in the Trans-Himalayas.He is also the only member of Otters Specialist Group of the IUCN from the State of J&K which is also something to be proud of. Talking exclusively to The News Now, Mr. Pushinder said that he is extremely happy and would do his job more efficiently in the region assigned to him. He was able to achieve 2nd rank in the entrance examination which helped him secure a f ll maintenance fellowship to support his studies and stay in Italy. Despite his supervisor being from Italy, he has chosen Ladakh as his study area for the PhD. His achievement stands testimony to the hardwork that he has put in to achieve this feat.He would be an inspiration for many youngsters like him who want to pursue higher studies from foreign universities.
