Srinagar:
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  reacted sharply to Omar Abdullah’s allegation that Mehbooba Mufti was responsible for a lot of blood shed and violence and that she had made all efforts to kill Manan Wani. Senior PDP leader and former Parliamentarian, Dr. Mehboob Beg said that it was quite unfortunate that Manan’s killing was being politicized and the least that one could do at this stage is to maintain dignity.

"One need not go far to see how the Machil fake encounter case, Asiya and Neelofar cases as well as the hanging of Afzal Guru were dealt with. The situation in 2010 spiraled out of control and the same needs no reiteration, Mehbooba Mufti (on the contrary) made the BJP take several ‘Kashmir centric’ measures, which eventually became too much for the BJP to handle", said Dr.Beg.

Dr.Beg further said that it was the PDP led government, that made the Union government announce amnesty to the stone-pelters, it was Mehbooba Mufti who made them announce a unilateral cease-fire during the holy month of Ramadan, it was the persistence of the Mehbooba Mufti led government, following the footsteps of Mufti, that made the Union government announce it’s willingness to talk with Kashmiris across the board.

The PDP left no stone unturned in pushing through issues that are in Kashmir’s best interests and did not compromise on them, had the PDP cared to oblige the BJP, as alleged by the Opposition, it would still have been in government in the State and the BJP would not have felt the necessity to pull-out, concluded Beg.
