One-One-Day Workshop on Research Skill Development at Udhampur Campus

Jammu:Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Associate Dean Research, University Of South Pacific, Suva, Fiji, conducted one day workshop on ‘Research Skill Development’ in Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu for the students of M.Com and M.A Economics. The workshop comprises of two sessions relating to ‘Synthesized Literature Review and ‘Project Research Funding’. In the first session, he enlightened the students about conducting literature review for the research development. He also addressed the students regarding various personal qualities in pursuing research, choosing a research problem, reviewing literatures and reasons for conducting literature review. Dr. Singh made the students aware about different sources of literature that include Inflibnet, journal, articles, conference proceedings, etc. for literature review.  In the post lunch session, he continued with the literature review and also talked about distinction between the ‘good’ literature and ‘poor’ literature review. In the session on ‘Project Funding’ he aware the students about different sources of funding agencies for conducting research projects. All the participants appreciated the interaction on research skill development with the resource person. Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Rector, Udhampur Campus, Prof. Desh Bandhu Gupta, University of Jammu and Prof. Mahesh Gupta, University of Louisville, also interacted with the faculty of commerce and economics. Prof. Mahesh Gupta shared his valuable experience and discussed about ‘Theory of Constraints’. He also inspired the faculty members to make practical implementation of this theory for the development of Udhampur campus. The workshop was also attended by the faculty members Dr. Neetu Kumari, Taruna Dubey, Pradeep Kumar, Mamta Sharma, Jhanvi Khanna, Dr .Shilpa Gupta, Dr. Deepti Abrol, Dr. Kamani Dutta and Ritika Sambyal of Udhampur Campus.
