Jammu:On Fourth day of Sports Tourney 2018, Kabaddi (Men & Women) and Kho-Kho (Men & Women) Matches were played at GCW Gandhinagar , Constituent College of Cluster University of Jammu. Chess (Men & Women) matches were played at GCOE, Constituent College of Cluster University of Jammu organised by DSW Cluster University of Jammu.
Dr. Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar of Cluster University of Jammu, who was the chief Guest during Kabaddi (men) tournament, appreciated the efforts of DSW and entire team in organizing this sports tournament.
In Kabaddi (men) Govt. S.P.M.R. College of Commerce defeated Govt. College of Education by 30 points (42-12) whereas GGM Science College registered victory against Govt. M.A.M. College in another match by 22 points (36-14). The final would be played on 09-03-2018 between Govt. S.P.M.R. College of Commerce and GGM Science College.
Earlier Kho-kho match (women) was played between Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce and Govt College of Education which was won by Govt. College of Education by 07 points (11-4). In kho-Kho Men, Govt. S.P.M.R. College defeated MAM College by 12 points (16-4). In another match (Men) G.G.M. Science College beat Govt. College of Education by 12 points (15-3). The final of Kho-kho match (Women) would be played on 09-03-2018Govt. The kho-Kho women final would be played between Govt. College of Education and GCW Gandhinagar. The final of Kho-kho match (Men) would be played between Govt.SPMR College of Commerce and GGM Science College.
Principal of Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Dr. Kaushal Samotra was chief guest whereas Dr. Twinkle Suri, DSW Cluster University of Jammu was guest of honour on the opening of kho-kho matches.
Physical Director, GCW Gandhi Nagar linked the event to International Womens Day, and said it is a tribute to women that these matches are being inauguration by a woman (Dr. Kaushal Samotra) who remained national level athlete by representing the state in Kho-kho, Athletics and volley ball. She is a source of inspiration for young female players.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof. Sunil Uppal (co-ordinator of sports), Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Prof. Satihwar Singh, Dr. Surinder Sharma, Prof. Balraj, Prof. Indeevar Chaniyal, Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Dr. Tahira Firdous, Prof. Shivani Sharma and Dr. Ashaq Malik
The matches were officiated by Dheeraj Sharma, Harjeet, Palvinder, Shivali Bhau, Anil Kumar, Manmohan, Kishan singh, Harpreet Singh and Gagan Kumar.
Prof. Satinder Singh, Nodal Principal G.G.M.Science College was the Chief Guest Chess played at GCOE. First semi-final of Chess Men was played between Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce and Govt College of Education, GCOE won by 3 – 1. Second semi-final was played between Govt. M.A.M. College and G.G.M. Science College, Govt. M.A.M. College won by 3 – 1. The final was played between Govt College of Education and Govt. M.A.M. College, Govt. M.A.M. College won by 3 – 1.
Pre semi-final of Chess Women was played between Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce and GCOE, which was won by Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce by 3 – 1. G.G.M. Science College had walk over in Semi-finals. In second semi-finals, Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce defeated
Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar by 3 – 1. The final was played between Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce and G.G.M. Science College which was won by Govt. S.P.M.R. College of commerce by 3.5 – 0.5.
Mr. Amit Jamwal, Mr. Chander and Mr. Aman Jangral officiated both Chess Men and Chess Women matches.
