He was formally received by Regional Director ICCR J&K, Balwant Thakur on his arrival in Jammu. Dr. Karan Singh will preside over the grand 225th Birth Day celebrations function being organised by Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust which is being held at Abhinav Theatre Jammu. The major attraction of the celebrations is the release of the Hindi film ‘Gulab Gatha’ which Padamshree Balwant Thakur has devised and directed featuring popular Film and Television actor Sunil Kumar Palwal as Maharaja Gulab Singh. Sunil Kumar Palwal has many films and Television serials to his credit including the popular Bollywood movie Jolly LLB2. The function is planned to be held at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu on Saturday 21st of October, 2017 at 5 pm where Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Award will also be presented. There is lot of enthusiasm in Jammu to see this first ever film made on any historical aspect of Jammu. Youngsters are more enthused to see this for the reason that local history in J&K is neither taught nor any authentic document is available so the generations become aware of their rich past. It may be recalled that on past two occasions, ICCR Jammu presented a musical theatre show showcasing the life sketch of Maharaja Gulab Singh. But this time on the occasion of 225th birth anniversary celebrations a film is being screened. Dr. Karan Singh will also release the DVD of the film ‘Gulab Gatha’ on the occasion. Giving details about the programme, Balwant Thakur informed that the entry to the show has been kept free and appealed that all those who wish to see this show must reach Abhinav Theatre before 5 pm. He further informed that duration of the film is short and is a docu-drama. Top actors of Jammu stage and film are featuring in this film and the entire post production of the film has been done in Mumbai studios.
