Srinagar:To review and finalise the arrangements for ensuing Republic Day 2019 celebrations a meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian Dr. Owais Ahmed here today at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian.
Additional Deputy Commissioner , Additional Superintendent of Police Shopian, Deputy superintendent of police traffic Shopian, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Divisional forest officer, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Principal Government Degree College Shopian, Deputy Director Forest Protection Force, Executive Engineers of PHE division, R&B division, Irrigation division, EM&RE division Shopian, Mechanical Engineering Wing Awantipora, , Executive officer Municipal Committee Shopian, I/C Fire and Emergency Services Shopian, representatives of traffic department and other concerned were present in the meeting.
In the meeting it was informed that the main function of the Republic Day will be held at District Police Lines Shopian where the Chief guest of the function will unfurl the National Flag followed by march past by contingents drawn from District Police, CRPF, Home guard, NCC, Forest Protection, Fire and Emergency and students of various educational institutions. Cultural programs would also be presented by the students during the function.
On the occasion DC constituted various committees for ensuring smooth celebrations of Republic Day in the district. It was decided that the celebration will start with playing of Shehnai vadan in morning by the Information department.
Discussion was held regarding arrangements for seating, barricading, drinking water, power supply, sanitation, first aid, deployment of buses, fire tenders, traffic regulations, illuminations of government buildings and refreshment to students participating in the national event.
The DC exhorted upon all agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for smooth and successful celebration of Republic day
The meeting was informed that full dress rehearsal shall be held on 24 Jan, 2019 at the same venue. Similarly Chief Education Officer and District youth and sports officer were asked to prepare the list of students and sports person who performed well in their respective fields so that they shall be honoured by the District Administration on the event.
DC directed the Mechanical, R&B and Municipal committee to deploy adequate men and machinery so that all the main roads including the main venue can be cleared in case of snowfall.
The DC directed the officers concerned to ensure better coordination for making effective arrangements pertaining to their departments. He stressed upon the invitation card distribution and seating arrangements committee to ensure better coordination among each other.
