New Delhi:
Six months after being awarded as best supporting actor in 64th National Film Awards, Kashmiri teenage actress Zaira Wasim Tuesday was awarded the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement 2017 in New Delhi.

Given by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, the award is given on the occasion of Children’s Day.

Zaira was awarded silver medal in the field of art.

The National Child Awards 2017 are given to celebrate the exceptional achievements of children; as well as to individuals and institutions who work for child welfare.

This year, the President honoured 16 children, out of which one child was given a gold medal and 15 children were given silver medals. The National Award for Child Welfare was conferred on 3 individuals and 5 institutions. The Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award was conferred on 3 individuals.

Born on October 23, 2000, Zaira, Dangal girl earlier landed into a controversy after meeting J&K chief minister. Even she later apologized for that.
