Campus, JU organizes Guest Lecture for its students at the Campus

Jammu:To acquaint the students with the latest technology in IT Industry, Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus today organized a series of Lectures regarding ‘Emerging Trends in Advanced Computing’ and ‘Recent Technological Developments in IT Industry’. Mr. Mukesh Dogra, working in Microsoft, Seattle (US) and Ms. Ranjita Dogra, working in Expedia, Seattle (US) were the Resource persons. All the students of three semesters of MCA were the participants during the lectures.
Ms. Ranjita Dogra started with the topic ‘Types of jobs in IT sector’ like Developers, Testers, System Engineers, Network Engineers, Security, Program Manager, Product Manager, Business Analyst, Data Scientists etc. She also explained the types of skills needed to make career in IT Industry, both Hard and Soft and how to build these skills. She also added the importance of Data Structure and Algorithms and talked about the contemporary topics like Big Data, Cloud Computing etc.
With all these concepts Mr. Mukesh Dogra talked regarding the various profiles that Industry prefers to provide to the freshers. Among those are Developers, Testers and Operational Engineers, etc. He also explained how to handle Databases, replication of Databases, Description about Cloud Computing (IAAS, PAAS, SAAS) and Big Data.
Earlier Mr. Sourabh Shastri, Incharge Head, MCA while welcoming the Resource Persons, assured that more such lectures shall be undertaken in near future to consolidate the collaboration between Academia and Industry. All the faculty members including Mr. Amit Sharma, Mr. Ajay Lakhnotra, Mr. Riti Parkash Singh Katal, Ms.Ankita Kangotra and Mr. Amardeep Sharma were present during the session.
