Jammu:
The state unit leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party have asked the party high command in New Delhi to take action against the ousted minister Lal Singh for violating party rules and going against the party stand on the gruesome rape and murder case of a child in Kathua.
“We have conveyed to high command about the growing activities of Lal Singh,” BJP, general secretary Ashok Kaul, said.
“Ours is national party and they will take a call on the activities on Singh.”
Lal Singh has organised public events continuing to demand the Kathua rape and murder case be taken away from the state police’s Crime Branch even as the party doesn’t anymore.
Koul said that BJP high command has summoned state president and others to New Delhi before deciding on action against Singh and other matters related to its ministers in the state cabinet.
Earlier, BJP chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi told Kashmir based local daily that whatsoever Singh was doing now related to the Kathua case he was doing so on his own.
Sources in the party say the BJP has almost lost control over Singh who has not even attended its meetings since he was forced to resign, causing worries that he was damaging the party’s image at the national level.
“When our senior leaders including Ram Madhavji supported crime branch, there is no question that someone in state will oppose it,” a senior BJP said.
“He (Lal Singh) is brining shame for party.”
According to party insiders BJP president Amit Shah, general secretary Ram Madhav, Dr. Jitendra Singh and Avinash Rai Khanna will meet with state unit leaders on Monday in New Delhi to make some important decisions.
“Soon after the New Delhi meeting new faces (for induction in state cabinet) will be announced,” a senior BJP leader said.
