‘Gang of thieves’ busted in Poonch 3 held

Jammu:Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves in Poonch district with the arrest of three persons and recovery of stolen property worth over Rs 10 lakh. Several cases of theft were reported in and around Surankote in Poonch district over past few months, prompting police to launch a special drive to bring the culprits to book, a police officer said today. He said around 150 suspected persons were rounded up for questioning during investigation which finally led to the busting of the gang. “So far three main accused were arrested and stolen property worth over Rs 10 lakh were recovered at their disclosure. The investigation is on and some more arrests and recoveries are expected,” the officer said.
